The project location is 7272 Canal Blvd in New Orleans. This area is called the Lakefront as it is on the fringe of Lake Pontchartrain. The neighborhood was devastated by Hurricane Katrina with this property only a couple of miles from the levee breach.
As life-long residents, we felt it was the appropriate place to launch this project to show our belief in the city and its future.
- The lot was marked to show where to drive the pilings.
- Because New Orleans is below sea level the code required pilings to be driven to support the foundation.
- Most pilings were only able to be driven 35 to 37 feet to resistance.
- Trenches were dug to insert the plumbing.
- Ready to pour the foundation.
- Chain wall surrounding perimeter of property to keep runoff out of neighbor's yards.
